Support of Community Orgaizations
Loyal2LocalChallange
Sydney Credit Union employees along with other participating credit union employees throughout the Atlantic provinces, were given up to $50 each to make purchases from local businesses between July 15 to August 15, 2021. During 2020, Loyal2Local was successful in driving $70,000 dollars into the Atlantic Canadian economy at a time when it was needed most.
Micro-Loan Program
New businesses create new employment opportunities; and both directly benefit the Cape Breton – Unama’ki economy. That is why the Cape Breton Partnership and Sydney Credit Union have joined together to offer a new and exciting pilot micro-lending program for female entrepreneurs.
EachOne | TeachOne Financial Literacy Series
Sydney Credit Union is committed to financial literacy and growing the financial knowledge and skills of our members and our communities. We offer support to groups and organizations by meeting people where they are, to provide a variety of sessions in plain language and in a non-sales approach. Topics are varied and include Basic Budgeting, Basic Banking, Managing Debt and Home Buying. With 2020 being a challenging year to meet in person, Sydney Credit Union’s EOTO facilitators switched to a virtual platform and continued to host 23 EOTO sessions with a reach of 239 participants.
